My First Commission

Back in March 2024 I was so happy to get a commission to paint this gorgeous couple who are shortly getting married. This piece is on 9″ x 11″ grey Strathmore with coloured pencils.

Sunflower Boy

Snapped on my 60th birthday weekend while visiting the Van Gogh museum. Sunflowers are Chris’s favourite, and he often wears colours in the same palette. A4 ink and coloured pencil on Paint’On grey paper. I’m reliably informed that this counts as ‘fine art’ because I’m referencing Van Gogh!

Famous Faces – Kadeena Cox

Continuing my series of ink and coloured pencil portraits of famous faces completed in 4 hours in preparation for the Portrait Artist of the Year competition. I did a ‘grisaille’ underpainting on this one to emphasise the shadows. A4 ink and coloured pencil on PaintOn Grey paper.

Sharing some of my process. I found this one tricky. A beautiful complexion with a few visible signs of ageing (not many) means you have to tread a find line.
